Nuclear Decommissioning Activities

Many licensed nuclear installations commissioned during the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s have now reached the end of their operational life span and are being decommissioned. This activity requires an engineered approach with high emphasis on risk assessment and safety management.

Kitsons have vast experience in the nuclear sector, originally specialising in the removal of asbestos from nuclear power stations and, in more recent years, in nuclear decommissioning and dismantling.

There are similarities when working with asbestos and ionising radiation which enables Kitsons to offer a combined or separate solutions to client requirements.
