Asbestos Services

Asbestos is the common name for a variety of silicate materials that are fibrous in structure. It has two forms; serpentine and amphibole and is made of impure magnesium silicate. Chrysolite, commonly referred to as White Asbestos, is serpentine and amosite (brown) and crocidolite (blue) are amphibole.

Asbestos related diseases (mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer) are thought to kill between 3500–4000 people a year in the UK with this figure being expected to increase to 10,000 by 2011. The risk from asbestos must be managed effectively to ensure that such misery and suffering do not occur in the future.

Kitsons are able to offer a complete management service for all asbestos problems, whether that be Consultancy, Surveying and Management Reports or Asbestos Removal / Treatment.  The practical advice is independent and can provide clients with solutions to problems than result in substantial cost savings.

Kitsons has a proven track record of providing asbestos services to the retail, finance, leisure, domestic / public authority, industrial, power generation, petrochemical, defence and nuclear market sectors.

Following asbestos removal there is often a requirement for refurbishment / replacement with non-hazardous materials. Kitsons are also able to provide a range of complimentary services including electrical, plumbing, joinery, thermal insulation, general building and finishing trades.
