Staff at Kitsons have raised £11,652 for 2 charities as a result of a highly successful scheme which promoted best safety practice in Pembroke as part of a total of £80,500 being donated to charities by Milford Energy and AMEC. The aim of the Milford Cogen project is to use surplus gas from the Dragon Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Plant, covert it to electricity, and then return it back to the Dragon terminal.

Kitsons staff working on the Milford Energy Cogen project which is being constructed by AMEC and achieved a total of 750,000 man hours without a Lost time accident (LTA) last year. As a result of an excellent safety performance, the MacMillen Nurses and Whithybush Hospital Children’s Ward each received £5,286.90. The funds were divided between the contractors depending on the average number of men on site over the year.

John Skone, Kitsons Regional Manager in Pembroke said, “The donations were the result a combined team focus of high safety excellence and quite an achievement. Dragon LNG will have an important role in contributing towards the UK’s energy importing strategy with a capacity in excess of 6 billion cubic metres of gas per annum (bcma) to supply the UK’s National Transmission System (NTS). Kitsons are pleased to be part of this success. Any surplus electricity is sold to the nation grid.”
